Eco Tourism Conference 2010

Introduction
The Eco tourism conference is a annual bi-national conference whose main focus is on sustainable tourism in the United states of America and Canada. The main organizer of this conference is “The International Eco tourism Society(TIES).” Eco Tourism Conference 2010 will be the fourth conference organized by the society of International Eco tourism.

These conferences are very beneficiary for business leaders, travel and tourism professionals and community members to gain knowledge of the latest trends in eco tourism and sustainable tourism. And also enables them to learn practical skills and provides them a platform to participate in valuable networking and knowledge sharing.

Eco Tourism Conference 2010
Eco Tourism Conference 2010 will be held at Portland and Oregon from 8th September to 10th September. It will be the fifth conference which will be organized under the banner of the “The International Eco tourism Society(TIES).” It is estimated that about 400 experts, industry leaders and community stakeholders from across the region will participate in this conference whose main focus is on greening the tourism industry of U.S.A and Canada. The key issues of 2010's Eco Tourism Conference are green technologies, climate change strategies, and certification programs.

As Portland is recognized as the most eco-friendly city of USA, therefore this year's conference will be hosted by Travel Portland and Travel Oregon, the city and state’s destination marketing agencies. Both Travel Portland and Travel Oregon - TIES Sponsor and Supporter members - have implemented various sustainable tourism initiatives locally and nationally, and designated staff members to develop and promote sustainable tourism. The venue for the conference will be the Hilton Portland and the Executive Tower, the first Hilton property which has received Green Seal certification.

Portland has an edge over other cities of USA. It is the leader among other cities of the country in recycling, bicycle commuting and municipal initiatives which focused mainly on green living. Portland will also offer a unique opportunity for the conference to incorporate various off-site interpretive sessions and encourage the participants to learn from the many sustainable best practice that are visible in and around the city.

Following the successes of the past conferences and the lessons learned from the collective experience of the ecotourism and sustainable tourism community, the Eco Tourism Conference 2010 will continue to seek sustainable change for bio-cultural conservation, with renewed and strengthened focus on solutions, implementation and action.

The main objective of this year 's Eco Tourism Conference is to promote effective ways to utilize the sustainable tourism community’s experience and expertise to tackle some of the critical challenges which the tourism industry often faces.

Asia Pacific Regional Ecotourism Conference 2010
Following the line of the Eco tourism conferences that are taken place in USA and Canada, Asia continent also organizes eco tourism conferences known as The Asia Pacific Regional Ecotourism Conference 2010 (APREC 2010). Its primary aim is to promote and strengthen Community Based Ecotourism (CBE) in the Asia-Pacific region and to increase the competitiveness of CBE products and services worldwide, inter-and intra-regional tourism markets.

This year's Asia Pacific Regional Ecotourism Conference will be organized by Sri Lanka Ecotourism Foundation, and Sri Lanka Eco Tours in association with Sri Lanka Tourism.
