Osman Sagar Lake

Location of the Osman Sagar Lake :
Osman Sagar Lake popularly known as the Gandipet, lies 20 km west on the outskirts of city of Hyderabad. It is spread over an area of 46 square km. It is the man made lake created by the dam across the Isa, a tributary of the river Musi. It is the main source of water supply to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The lake is surrounded by the parks and the grass on all sides. The ideal time to visit the lake is after the monsoons. Although the tourists are seen here through out the year be it summers or the winters. Away from the city the lake provides the charming atmosphere to the tourists. The breathtaking green landscapes surrounding the lake are truly rewarding.

Osman Sagar Lake History of the Osman Sagar Lake :
Osman Sagar lake was constructed by the Vllth Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan in the year 1920. The lake constructed after to save the city from the disastrous floods. The creadit of planning out the design out of the lake goes to the Mokshgundam Vishweswarraya.

Sagar Mahal :
Overlooking the lake, Sagar Mahal is the historical building, which was used by the Nizam of Hyderabad as the summer resort. The Mahal is located on the banks providing the magnificent view of the Lake. But with the passage of time this heritage building was converted into the lake resort by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development. Tourists who wants to stay here overnight can hire the guest room in the Sagar Mahal. It has ten double rooms with all the modern requirements.

The pristine lake is the most sought after picnic spot among the locals in Hyderabad. Tourists coming to visit the Osman Sagar Lake can indulge themselves in the nature walk and can enjoy the soothing breeze of the environment. The lake is good hang out for the people of all age. Picnickers are seen here enjoying all day, playing cards and anthakshri (singing songs), trying out various sports and the oldies taking a leisure walk around the lake.

Ocean Park :
Located at the Osman Sagar Lake, Ocean Park is the first theme park of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is situated in the 20 acres of landscape garden and quite popular among the Children and couples. It is the family amusement park with the numerous water sports and amusement games. It has a separate section for the kids and the separate section for the adults. The main attractions of the park are the toy train, helicopters, huge air filled filled balloons, video games for the kids and tora tora ride, single loop roller coaster for the adults.

Treasure Island :
Another major attractions around the Lake is the Treasure Island. It is located on the 60 acres of landscape area at the Osman Sagar Lake. It enchants the tourists with the amazing landscapes and romantic pool-sides. Tourists can also go for the camel ride and enjoy the various adventure sports.
