Manipur

Location : Located in north-eastern part of the country, Manipur shares its border with other Indian states like Mizoram, Assam and Nagaland. To its east, it also shares its border with neighbouring country, Myanmar.
Climate condition : Manipur has temperate climate. May and June are the hottest months of the year when temperature may raise up to 31º C. In winters (December-January), the temperature may dip to 0º C.
Best time to visit : October to March

The salubrious climate of Manipur makes it in possession of abundant scenic beauty. As 67% of the total land of the state is covered by hill tract forested area, Manipur has reason to boast its supremacy in having rich natural heritage. The superfluous greenery and forested area, lovely hills and lakes of the state let tourists enjoy several of eco-activities like flora and fauna viewing, hills exploration, lake viewing, trekking and boating. Besides, witnessing its rich cultural pattern is another fascinating exploration.

Places of Interests
Zoological Garden: Famous for being abode to rare Brow-Antlered Deer, Sangai, the Zoological Garden of Manipur is good place to start your eco tour while being at Imphal, the capital of Manipur.
Loktak lake and Sendra island: The lake can be compared to an in-land sea as it is huge stretch of water. Seeing the lake from nearby tourist bungalow gives a very beautiful bird's eye view of the lake. Boating and fishing are prime attraction at this pleasant spot.
Langthabal: This is a beautiful hill lying on the Indo-Burma Road. The hill having an old historical palace, temples and many ceremonial houses surrounded by Pine and Jack fruit trees gives a very lovely view of nearby plains.
Singda: This beautiful hill resort located at the altitude of 920 meter is 16 km from Imphal. Singda lake located atop the hill is a fine invitation to view for nature lover. The hill resort overlooks the Manipur Valley, and presents a very fine natural view of the valley.
Khongampat Orchidarium: 7 km from Imphal, the famous orchidarium is must explored destination for eco-tourists. The orchidarium is home as well as breeding centre of 110 species of orchids.
Andaro: It is an ancient village having a popular cultural complex. The complex has a wonderful showcase of pottery of North-East region. Besides, Doll House of the complex, another big attraction, has dolls of 29 recognised tribes of Manipur.
Kaina: The famous temple lying at an altitude of 921 meter is one of the most sacred places of Hindus in the state. The beautiful hillock having rich greenery is joy for nature lovers.

The superfluous greenery and forests lying at its many of the hill tracts are origin to a favourable eco-tourist spot in the state. As approx 67% of the area of the state is covered by forests, the greater probability is that eco-tourists leave no chance of enjoying its plethora of natural view.

Popular eco-places like Loktak lake and Sendra island with its complete serenity and natural beauty attract tourists not only to view its beauty, but also to indulge into eco-excursion like boating and fishing in the beautiful lake and taking a nature ride near the lake.

Presence of many beautiful hills and hill resorts like Langhthabal and Singda increase one's joy of nature viewing. Witnessing the stunning natural beauty of nearby hill and plains from these hills are great joy for nature viewers. Kaina, another popular hillock of Manipur, lying at an altitude of 921 meter, is abode to the famous temple of Sri Govind Ji. Along with exploring this sacred place, one gets bundle of opportunity explore its naturally rich surrounding.

Getting finer exploration of its flora and fauna, Khongampat Orchidarium and Zoological Garden are best places to explore. The orchidarium has 110 species of orchids, which are worth holding biggest attention of nature lovers. Besides, the zoological park is fine abode to rare Brow-Antlered Deer, Sangai. Along with many of natural sight scenic places, there are places fetching good presentation of its rich culture. Reaching there
By Air : Imphal, the capital Manipur, has regular flights for destinations like Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Silchar and Aizwal. Delhi and Kolkata has international airport having air link with all major international and domestic locations.

By Rail :Imphal has no direct rail link with any destination. Dimapur (219 km) and Guwahati (484 km) is the nearest railhead, from where one can either hire taxi or can take bus to reach Imphal.

By Road : National Highway 39 connects Imphal to nearby major locations like Dimapur, Guwahati and Silchar. Buses of Manipur State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and private buses are easily available from these locations to Imphal.
