Detailed Itinerary
Thattekkad lying approx 80 Km from Cochin will be the first place we have
chosen for you to explore. Said to be the best place of Birding in Kerala,
Thattekkad houses a famous bird sanctuary. After your flight lands at Cochin
airport on the
1st day in the noon, you will drive soon to
Thattekkad.
The 2 full day’s exploration (on
2nd and 3rd day) of the bird
sanctuary will let you see few hundreds of species of birds. Some birds that
you will come to see here will include Crimsonbacked Sunbird, White Bellied
Blue Flycatcher, Wayanad Laughing Thrush, Malabar Parakeet, Malabar Grey
Hornbill besides owls like the Mottled Wood Owl, Oriental Bay Owl, Oriental
scopes owl, Brown Fish Owl, Oriental Scopes Owl and Spotbellied Eagle Owl.
Besides, you can also view several of its mammals like elephant, leopard,
sloth bear and porcupine.
In the morning of
4th day, you will drive for Munnar. The place, a
very beautiful and famous hill station, will make you live in very
enchanting natural milieu for two day (
4th and 5th day). The green
plantation of Tea and Coffee with its pervading fragrance will be worth
enriching your spirits and temper. To enjoy Birding, you will proceed to
Rajamala and other evergreen forests where hundreds of bird’s species
dwell.
The evergreen forests of Munnar will let you see the birds like Nilgiri
Wood Pigeon, Nilgiri Pipit, Whitebellied shortwing and the Broadtailed
Grassbird. We will also take a tour to the Bodi Ghats for Yellow Throated
bulbul, Indian robin, Sirkeer Malkoha, Short Toed Snake Eagle, Blue Faced
Malkoha and the Black eagle. Munnar famous for its passionate appeal to
couples as it is one of the favourite honeymoon spots in the country.
Discovering this hill station with your spouse or beloved while being on
Birding tour will give you a very romantic getaway.
The next two day,
6th and 7th day, while discovering Periyar
National Park you will be on the last halt of your tour. This National Park
and Tiger Reserve attracts ornithologists from all over as hundreds of
species of birds flocks here. The morning visit to the park while taking
boat ride in its Periyar Lake will be the best way to see many of rare
species of birds as well as many wild animals like Tiger, Leopard, Sambar,
Elephant, Porcupine, Wild Dog, Wild Boar, Sloth Bear and Deer. Birds that
you will be seeing here will include Racket-tailed Drongo, Scarlet Minivet,
Velvetfronted Nuthatch, Bronzed Drongo, Grey Tit, Goldenback Woodpeckers,
Whitebellied Tree Pie, Jungle Babbler, Indian Rufous Tree Pie, Yellowbrowed
Bulbul, Large Wood Shrike, Ashy Drongo, Small Minivet, Goldfronted
Chloropsis, Small Green Barbet, Flowerpeckers.
When your Birding Tour at Periyar will be over by the evening of 7th day,
next morning,
8th and last day of your tour, you will drive back to
Cochin. At Cochin, you will be departing us to catch your flight to your
onward destination.
