Location : At 5400 ft above sea level in Kashyap Hills, Almora is one of the 5 districts of Uttaranchal.
Climate condition: Almora has temperate climate. Summers are usually warm in the morning and cool in the evening. Night of the winters are chilly, and the region sometimes experiences snow falls.
Best time to visit: April-June and September-November

Thing to do
Temple sightseeing and nature viewing in its 5 km of mountain range are the best thing that attract nature lovers coming to Almora. Many of the popular Eco destinations like Binsar (35 km) and Koshi (12 km) are short drive from here. Popular Pindari glacier trekking tour starts at Almora.

Places of Interests
Chitai Temple : Dedicated to Lord Gollu, the temple is very popular in Kumaon region and is most flocked place at Almora. Reaching there takes one through beautiful Pine forests, which is nothing but a fine treat for Eco lovers. Viewing Himalaya from the temple present stunning beauty of Himalayan ranges of hills.

Bright End Corner : It can better be called as Tiger Hills of Almora as enjoying sunset and sunrise view from here is one thing nature lovers cherish most. Close to the hill is Vivekanand Memorial where he spent some days while returning from Himalayas.

Katarmal Sun Temple : Built before 800 years ago, the temple has 50 stone temple complex. Falling in the way to Jageshwar shrine, Katarmal Sun Temple requires a good exploration.
G B Pant Museum : Close to the bus stand, the museum has rare collection of 'Apen' folk painting. Seeing these beautiful paintings might tempt you to look around the town for a shop to buy.

Bageshwar shrine : Lying 33 km far from Almora, majestic temple complex of Jageshwar is hardly one hour drive. The temple has immense architectural and religious importance. Taking a dip in nearby Nandini and Surbhai streams must be on your card.

Binsar : 35 km from here lies another favourite summer retreat, Binsar. Some of the most popular Himalayan peaks like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Shivling, Chaukhamba, Trishul, Nanda Kot and Nanda Devi can be seen from here. Getting up in the morning let you see many of its snow capped peaks.

5 km of long mountain range of Almora lends the whole district oodles of natural beauty. Located at 5400 ft above sea level, hilly land of Almora provides a breathtaking view of nearby plains. Nature viewing in the whole region has immense joy.

Bunch of temples like famous Kataramal Sun Temple and Chitai Temple become must visit destination for tourist. Chitai Temples, most famous among all is best joy for nature lovers, too as reaching there let you pass through Pine forests and many other sightseeing spots. Presenting another joy for nature enthusiasts, Bright End Corner gives very scenic view of sunrise and sunset.

Persons looking for some adventure, Pindari trekking terrain is just 91 km from Almora. The drive is thorough fun ride for nature lovers as it passes through many of the beautiful Pine forests and green valleys. Pindari glacier lying between Nandakot and Nanda Devi mountain gives hilarious experience to trekkers.

And for the persons too daring to trek, they can just drive to nearby attractions like Jageshwar temple complex and Binsar, where seeing many of Himalayan hills snow capped is entirely fascinating. Back to Almora, two popular rivers flowing close to it- Koshi and Suyal have fine opportunity for angling, where one can drive to with hooks and lines.

Reaching there
By Air : The nearest airport is at Pantnagar (127 km). From there one can hire taxi or can even catch bus or jeep for Almora.

By Rail : Kathgodam (91 km) is the nearest main railhead connected to all prime rail line of the country. Reaching Almora from Kathgodam is approx 3 ½ hours drive. Taxis, jeeps and buses are easily available from the railway station.

By Road :State Highway, connected to National Highway 87, crosses through Almora. From Delhi (365 km), one can reach there in Almost 9 hours drive.
